Anne Russell (Proprietor/Principal Teacher)

Anne learned piano from a young age and started her music teaching career in the early 1980's in a humble home studio and when her children were of school age she began offering private lessons and classroom music in schools.  After relocating to Port Macquarie in 1992, Anne and her husband, Michael, established Port Macquarie Academy of Music which has evolved and grown over 25+ years and now operates from 7 state-of-the-art studios  in Chestnut Road  Port Macquarie.

Anne is a classically trained pianist who obtained both piano and musicianship qualifications through the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) and Trinity College London and she has also completed a specialised 'Voices of Autism' course through Torrens University.  Anne acknowledges, that classical piano isn't for everyone as she enjoys playing and listening to a variety of music genres herself. With this awareness, Anne is proud to have brought Australian and New Zealand Cultural Arts Limited (ANZCA) examinations to Port Macquarie. The ANZCA syllabus is relevant and motivating for today's students who enjoy the opportunity to learn classical, jazz, boogie, pop. blues and rock music for pleasure or for educational progression.

Drawing on 30+ years experience teaching music in many different settings including kinder - year 6 classroom music in schools, private music lessons, adult education including University of Newcastle , preschooler's music programs,  musical direction/production for over 30 musicals, numerous concerts for schools, theatre companies and professional musicians/composers , Anne offers inspirational musical experiences to students of all ages and varying musical interests.
