Meet the teachers.....

Peter Harries

Peter originally studied drums in Western Australia and has been an integral part of the team at the Academy of Music since it opened 20+ years ago. A talented teacher and performer who cleverly adapts to playing all music genres and enjoys sharing his many skills with students of all ages. Peter's versatility makes him a much sort after drummer for a variety of local & interstate bands.

Dianne Myers

Dianne studied Classical Piano and Music Theory with the Australian Music Examinations Board (A.M.E.B) and had been teaching piano privately to students of various ages for a number of years prior to joining the team at the Academy. Growing up in a musical family strengthened Di's love of music and she enjoys sharing her talents with the students.

Brock Colley

Brock has a wealth of experience teaching music, actively playing in bands and is competent in guitar, piano, vocals, music theory and drums. He is passionate about using his formal A.M.E.B (Australian Music Examinations Board), Tafe qualifications  and vast industry experience to develop the skills of  students of all ages and musical interests. He has also written a variety of music for various well known artists and is currently working on his own album.


Sarah Martyn

Sarah grew up and began her vocal training in Port Macquarie before furthering her music education at Southern Cross University and adding a Bachelor of Contemporary Music to her Australian Music Examinations (AMEB) credentials. She has taught music at Planet Music in Lismore and pursued her solo career  at various gigs in NSW.  Now, Sarah who also plays piano and guitar joins the team at the Academy of Music to work with our budding vocalists of all ages.

Matthew Covetz

 Matthew is a talented  pianist who has studied piano at Port Macquarie Academy of Music and completed both practical and theory exams through A.N.Z.C.A. (Australia and New Zealand Cultural Arts Ltd) He enjoys working with our younger students and introducing them to music whilst sharing his passion for the piano.

Natasha Marshall

Brad Bunyan

Natasha has studied Piano & Music theory with the Australian Music Examinations Board (A.M.E.B) and has added Violin to her musical skills. She joins the Academy of Music with experience as an accompanist and ensemble performer and looks forward to working with our young piano and keyboard beginners.

Brad has been playing guitar in bands and teaching for 25+ years. He enjoys all guitar styles from hard rock and metal to blues and country. Writing and recording music is also a passion along with playing drums, bass and piano. In addition to sharing his knowledge with students at the Academy of Music, Brad teaches for Don Spencer's

Australian Children's Music Foundation which offers music tuition in disadvantaged schools.

Zed Jai

Zed joins us from the UK where he delivered specialist hand drumming courses in a variety of settings including schools, corporate and family groups. He has a particular interest in working with children with Autism or who struggle academically. Drumming gives them the opportunity to de-stress and excell at something they really enjoy. Zed specialises in Djembe and a variety of hand drums and brings another dimension to our already popular drum kit tuition program.
